North Carolina "Revenge Porn" Lawyer

Has your ex-partner posted nude or sexual images of you online without your consent in North Carolina?

Lawmakers voted almost unanimously to pass North Carolina’s first “revenge porn” statute in an effort to end the hurt and embarrassment that can come from having one’s naked and confidential images posted online.

House Bill 792 will make it illegal to distribute nude or sexual photos obtained “within the context of a personal relationship.” The bill targets the growing trend of North Carolina “revenge porn,” where someone posts nude photos online after a romantic relationship ends.

The new law, which goes into effect on December 1, 2015, makes this offense a Class H felony for offenders 18 years of age or older.  The law also allows victims to pursue a civil action against the offender for monetary damages, among other remedies.
