Speeding Ticket Basics: What You Need to Know to Keep Your Car Insurance Rates Low!

The most important goal for most of the clients we work with is keeping their car insurance low.  Did you know that if you get a speeding ticket in Wake County you may also get anywhere from 1-4 insurance points? Just one point can cause your car insurance premiums to go up by as much as 30% a year. With four points, you’re looking at as much as 80%! At The Law Offices of Wiley Nickel, our goal is to keep North Carolina insurance points off of your insurance to save you money.

If you’ve gotten a speeding ticket in North Carolina, there are two important policies you should know about:

1.      PJCs: If a judge grants you a PJC, it could mean no insurance points and no DMV points on your record. The traffic attorneys at The Law Offices of Wiley Nickel can help you determine if you are eligible or need to use a PJC for your speeding ticket.

2.      Improper Equipment Reductions: Just recently, Wake County has allowed certain speeding tickets to be reduced to improper equipment. Because ‘improper equipment’ is considered a non-moving violation, no DMV points or insurance points are assessed.

Each case is unique, if you have received a speeding ticket in Wake County, call The Law Offices of Wiley Nickel at (919) 585-1486 for a free consultation. One of our experienced Raleigh speeding ticket lawyers can help determine the best possible outcome for your unique situation. It is likely that we can appear on your behalf and save you the time and costs of going to court.
